Robina Namata, a police officer attached to the Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Department-CIIID at the Masaka Central Police Station in trouble for allegedly doctoring facts from a suspect’s statement.
Hajj Abubaker Gainamungu, the greater Masaka regional supervisor of Muslims founded schools is accusing officers is accusing Namata of forcing on him on a forged statement to frame him of criminal offense of threatening to shoot at someone.
Namata’s problems stems from 30th November 2015, when she recorded a statement from Gainamungu clarifying on how he obtained a pistol gun he was reported to own.
According to him, he availed police with all the necessary documents that permitted him to own a gun, and eventually the Masaka district police commander allowed him to take it back without any charges.
However, early this month, police relying on the same file summoned Gainamungu for trial, saying that his file had been sanctioned to start answering charges of threatening to kill a Muslim leader in Masaka, an allegation he strongly denies.
According to him, his statement on the police file carries false phrases inserted in it with intentions of framing him with criminal charges he has never committed.
He has accordingly petitioned the Inspector General of Police complaining about Namata and her bosses in Masaka whom he accuses of conspiring into forgery with ill intentions against him.
Gainamungu explains that upon recording his statement in 2015, he obtained a copy of it whose content is now different from the one police of late want to charge him with.
According to statement on Police file Gainamungu is said to have denied having threatened to kill anyone with his gun, statement he insists was falsely attributed to him after he had left.

He also accuses police of sneaking a case file with the forged statement direct to court, to hurry his prosecution without being dully perused by the Resident State Attorney.
A copy of a letter from the office of Masaka senior resident state attorney, also denies to have at any time received and sanctioned the said file against Gainamungu, adding that there is even no way how such an over delayed matter would later be revived with police recording new statements from warring parties.
He further argues that the irregularities cited in his case file gives a clear picture of the many deceptions and frauds taking place in the various police departments, asking the IGP to penalize the officer involved in the mess.
